Operating System inside your Browser?
Well, first have a look @ the picture below ,
Can u believe that this is all inside a browser ? ? ?
You’ll have to believe as its true..
I have already posted about a lot of operating systems targeting the browser such as DesktopTwo. But G.HO.ST(Well they call it so, be frank, copied from del.ico.us? nice trend huh).
It has pretty good features such as an inbuilt browser, notepad, image viewer application. Trust me, really browser. In my stand point, the developers have really done a great job on that aspect.
Unlinke the DesktopTwo, g.ho.st has a pretty clear arrangement, its windows style start menu thanks to it, it almost makes all your data stored in g.ho.st , available to you in a click. It also has a show desktop icon, which minimises all your windows to your taskbar(g.ho.st’s taskbar , not windows taskbar
) .
It also features a fully functional taskbar where all your windows minimize, which can be used to maximize them back. coool!
It also has a good extensibility, it can be linked to google spreadsheets , your zoho account , amazon shopping , … anything
Entertainment? Sure. Has a lot of games ,an embeddable music player, almost everything you need.
Look here for the interview with g.ho.st founder!

Ghosts are scary. But this is ridiculous. That’s not Ghost’s browser. It’s just your browser opening a window inside one of its windows. That’s plain silly. Desktoptwo and Goowy beat Ghost by a few miles.

yap, desktop two and goowy beat them in many cases. i agree with that. But does goowy allow you to trigger your browser inside the browser ? Nopes rite? But, G.ho.st allows. Thats what i was mentioning about
, Anyways thanks for your comment..

Thank you so much for reviewing G.ho.st, the Global Hosted Operating SysTem. We are glad you tried and liked G.ho.st features. By this summer we hope that G.ho.st, together with all the third-party Web 2.0 apps, will provide a Virtual Computer on the Web which is a real alternative to Windows and Mac especially for anyone who wants to be mobile or to do personal computing at work or in a library or Internet Cafe.
Please keep feedback coming at http://G.ho.st/fourms

I wonder if any of the “webtops” are handling some of the features that G.ho.st offers (though still alpha) like managing User’s web items such as flickr images, google docs, youtube videos, etc… I personally tried both, and I was surprised that I can’t even create my own desktop icon!!!
Additionally, G.ho.st provides a slick way to upload files (FTP) and allow the user to open .doc, .xls, .ppt as well as jpg, png and gif file formats.
G.ho.st is probably the only “Web Operating System” that are really heading towards incorporating 3rd party services…

Thanks for reviewing G.ho.st!
Yazz is right that we use the underlying browser but even so having a browser within G.ho.st has many useful features such as we remember your bookmarks and we remember your cookies no matter where you logon to G.ho.st from (there are still a few bugs but those will be resolved soon).
We wish DesktopTwo and Goowy luck as well but I would point that as well as the browser G.ho.st has much better integrations to third-party Web applications (such as Google Docs, ThinkFree, Flickr, YouTube, Zoho (coming soon) with more added regularly.
Thanks again

yap. That sounds good. I am looking forward for the final release of g.ho.st. I have already used Online OS like environments like desktoptwo, eyeos, youos etc. Almost all lag in one or more aspects that a user requires, i feel g.ho.st is comparitively better in lot of features.
Though the glass shaders in windows look cool, its still true that they need to make some changes in the interface to increase user friendliness. In short, i assume since its the alpha release, lot more features are yet to come.
Hope they come up with more third party services and great interoperability in the future. Wish g.ho.st a best of luck!
